About Hannah
Hannah Creel is from Morris, Alabama where she graduated from Mortimer Jordan High School and studied music education with a vocal/choral concentration at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. Hannah believes music is far larger than ourselves, it has the ability to help others through the difficulties of life. Our society is consumed by selfish motivations, self-promotion, and immediate gratification. To learn music someone must be giving of themselves, giving of their time, and giving of their effort. What is earned following all of this giving is not tangible. After someone has given their time and effort, their reward is knowing that they created music that possessed the power to help someone. Hannah believes students should have the opportunity to learn about music and participate in something larger than themselves.
While in high school, she spent her time in the Mortimer Jordan Choral Department under the direction of Margaret Heron where she was a member of numerous ensembles such as; concert choir, chamber choir, women’s honor choir, and the a cappella pop ensemble. Hannah has traveled with these various ensembles to compete in the Heritage Music Festivals in Chicago, New York, and San Francisco. Hannah has also spent her time in private study with Amanda Loggins and Dr. Johnny Jacobs. Throughout Hannah’s career she has been a part of the Alabama All-State Choir for six years under clinicians such as; Dr. Jeffery Redding, Dr. Jeffery Johnson, Dr. Judy Bowers, Dr. Andrea Ramsey, Dr. Christopher Aspaas and Dr. Bret Peppo.
At Samford University, Hannah studied voice under Laura Doss and furthered her formal training of music education, under Dr. Morgan Soja. She is an active member in music education professional affiliations such as, NAFME, AMEA, and ACDA. Hannah was also a member of the Samford University Chorale, directed by Sharon Lawhon. During her studies, Hannah also participated in mission work in Germany where she played French horn as a member of an orchestra the promoted the gospel and music education in schools.
Hannah is devoted to her passion for music. She is persistent in her pursuit of musical knowledge and excellence to become the best choral director she can be. Hannah aspires to encourage her students to never settle for less than their best, in every aspect of life. She believes every student is important and deserves the opportunity to partake in music. Not only does Hannah aim to teach her future students about music and how to sing, she wishes to teach her students the power of music and how it can be used to make the world a better place. She accredits music to providing students with not only musical skills, but also skills students will use throughout their lives such as; discipline, dedication, problem solving, team work, and unity.
